Draft for Public Comment: Guidance for National and Global Assessment of the Healthiness of Diets (Now Closed)
Thank you for your feedback on the HDMI Guidance
About
Thank you to all who shared their feedback on the draft Guidance for National and Global Assessment of Healthiness of Diets. The public consultation period has now concluded and we are grateful to every stakeholder, expert and partner who contributed their valuable input. The HDMI team is actively reviewing and incorporating the feedback received. The final Guidance is expected to be published in the coming months - stay tuned for updates.
Since 2022, the Healthy Diets Monitoring Initiative (HDMI) has worked to strengthen how the healthiness of diets is assessed among children, adolescents and adults. This work has been informed by an extensive review of existing methods and metrics, targeted analyses to help address evidence gaps, and close consultation with countries and technical experts.
These efforts are now coming together in the updated HDMI Guidance for National and Global Assessment of Healthiness of Diets. The Guidance is intended to support countries in strengthening dietary data systems by balancing methodological rigour with feasibility, including the use of low-burden tools to enable more timely and frequent monitoring and reporting on the recently adopted SDG 2 indicators, alongside other indicators.
As part of the public consultation process, stakeholders are invited to share their feedback through an online survey. The survey is the primary mechanism for collecting input on the Guidance prior to finalization and seeks feedback on:
- the clarity and structure of the document;
- key aspects that should be modified or retained;
- the proposed recommendations; and
- the sample questionnaires for data collection included in the Guidance.
